Burning and Bombing of Churches—Domestic Terrorism

At Sojourn Project II, our commitment to social justice and community empowerment is reflected in our impactful initiatives and collaborations. On June 23, 2002, in partnership with the National Coalition Against Burned Churches to address a critical issue of our time: the burning and bombing of churches. This collaboration culminated in a pivotal forum titled “Burning and Bombing of Churches—Domestic Terrorism,” held at the Atlanta University Center Library in Atlanta, GA.

The forum brought together Black clergy, students, scholars, and community members for a powerful and enlightening discussion. Attendees engaged in deep dialogues about the history, implications, and responses to acts of domestic terrorism targeting Black churches. This event not only raised awareness but also fostered a sense of solidarity and action within the community.

Through such initiatives, Sojourn Project II continues to address opportunities to create change that promote meaningful dialogue within our focus areas. Our work empowers individuals’ organizations and communities to improve their well-being that help people evaluate their lives positively by providing positive experiences and feelings, and reducing negative ones.
