What We Do
Sojourn Project II (SPII)
Focus Areas
Sojourn Project II (SPII) focuses on three key areas;
- Education and Research
- Arts
- International Outreach
Each area has specific needs and offerings that SPII address.
SPII provides Nonprofit assistance that builds organization support and capacity within their areas of operations. Education and Research that explores health disparities, human rights violations, social injustices, within marginalized populations experienced in different regions, and Research that examine policy, and legal frameworks for promoting human rights, social justice, and inclusive development.
Performance art provides a dynamic and often provocative medium for artists to explore, express, and challenge societal norms, cultural narratives, and individual experiences. It typically involves live presentations that can include elements of theater, dance, music, and visual art, often emphasizing the use of the artist’s body, time, and space. In partnership with various individuals, community organizations and cultural institutions, these performances can foster dialogue, inspire change, and bring attention to important social issues. By engaging diverse audiences and creating immersive experiences, performance art helps to break down barriers and build connections across different communities and countries to have a global impact.

Curtis Cares
Lupus is a top 10 cause of death in Black/African American and Hispanic women ages 15-44. Black/African American women with lupus die up to 13 years earlier than non-Hispanic White women with lupus. Symptoms are similar in men and women. However, some lupus symptoms, such as anemia (too few red blood cells), blood clots, organ damage or seizures, tend to be more severe in men. Both men and women commonly get “flares” where symptoms become more severe for a while before subsiding again.
The Honduras Project
Nestled in the heart of Central America, Honduras is a vibrant nation with a rich local culture. From the ocean coastlines to mountainous terrain, this beautiful country is full of incredible opportunities to join the work we do to serve Honduras. Honduras is only a 2 ½ hour plane ride from Miami or Houston yet it is a “world away”.

Civic Engagement
Civic engagement encompasses the active participation of individuals in the democratic process and community life to address public issues and improve society. This involvement can take many forms, including voting in elections, attending town hall meetings, volunteering for community projects, supporting public policy changes, and participating in public demonstrations. By engaging in these activities, citizens contribute to the collective decision-making process, hold public officials accountable, and foster a sense of community and shared responsibility.
