In April 2023, Dr. Crockett co-hosted the Southern Black Belt Coalition on Conditions of the Black Belt South virtual conference, a pivotal event for the United Nations International Decade for People of African Descent. This significant gathering brought together 100 participants from eight states and two foreign countries, all dedicated to addressing the unique challenges and conditions faced by communities in the Black Belt South.
The conference served as a crucial platform for dialogue, collaboration, and action, highlighting the socio-economic and political issues affecting these communities. Participants engaged in robust discussions, shared valuable insights, and developed strategies to promote sustainable development, social justice, and economic empowerment.
By highlighting such impactful events, Sojourn Project II continues to advance its mission of fostering community empowerment for the rights and well-being of people of African descent. This conference exemplifies our commitment to driving meaningful change and creating a more equitable future for all.
